Subplate Recordings proudly presents on SUBPLATE-080 the first collaboration from Australia based "Voortrekker" & "Jaise". The futuristic tech roller "Bionic", brims with the type of funk that sets you up with intrigue, reels you in, then snatches and holds you transfixed and captive. The close whispered vocal brings a sense of urgency before we’re plunged into an ocean of sound that encapsulates, bringing an undeniable feeling of euphoria and weightlessness, before rolling out a formidable funkstorm reminiscent of early 2000’s tech drum’n’bass. On the flip, the monolithic beast that is "Obelus", drags us on a journey through the murky depths with a bass line and groove so sinister it’s guaranteed to bring the vibes and imagery of heavy industry. A hint of nostalgia while sounding ultra-modern, Voortrekker & Jaise have shown they’re a duo that can straddle the line and find a solid balance of future tech and analog grit.
